Introduction to Ki Aikido

Location

〇 How do you practice Aikido?

We practice in pairs, taking turns as the thrower (nage) and the receiver (uke).

We earn ranks (kyu) and degrees (dan) to measure our progress.

〇 Calm Posture

To correctly judge an opponent's "approach," a calm mind is necessary. We learn this through the body.

〇 Grabbing, Pushing, Pulling

In Aikido, rather than using brute force against an opponent's "approach" (striking, thrusting, or grabbing), we practice the principle of harmony (wago) by aligning with the opponent's movement.

Before that, it is important to first correct your own posture.

〇 Ukemi (Breakfalls) to avoid injury when falling

First, we practice ukemi. We practice ukemi as a technique to protect yourself. There are forward and backward ukemi.
